This is the ISCGB first Field Trial to be held at the Bretby Estate by kind permission of Mr RAH Perkins DL. A big thank you goes the Steve Bloomfield the gamekeeper and his team of guns and helpers for making us most welcome and being so helpful throughout the day. The Field trial was held in the vast woods of the estate where there was enough game and challenging ground for the dogs and handlers at this level of field trial. A varied mix of HPR were present – GSP x 1, LM x 1, GLP x 1, W x 1, HWV x 2, GWP x 2, KG x 1 and not forgetting IS x 3.

Field Trials (FT) are held throughout the shooting season and represent, as near as possible, a normal days shooting when live game that the dog has hunted and pointed, is shot and sent to retrieve. Novice trials are the basic standard and Open the more advanced. An All Aged stake is in between the two.
I.S.C.G.B. Grouse Pointing Test March 29th 2008
Saturday morning I met the group who were going to go up onto the moor at the Keeper Andy Page’s house at around 8,45am, with a strong wind and a dull over cast that was holding off the rain. By 9.00am everyone was assembled and we set of in the cars to drive the 2 miles!! into the moor along a hard track, seeing Oyster Catchers, Pheasant, Red Shank, Lapwings, Curlews and even a ‘Good Morning’ from a cock Grouse with his hen feeding on grit by the track, plus the Swaledale Ewes watching over us.
